04/21/1925 ~ 07/01/2012
Robert Keith Barta died July 1, 2012. He was born in Park City, Utah on April 21, 1925 and was adopted and raised by Dr. Richard V. and Lillian Barta. He graduated from Park City High School and later completed training to become an airplane mechanic. Bob had many happy memories of growing up in Park City. He loved hiking in the mountains with his dog in the summer and skiing and skating in the winter. He had many different jobs growing up and enjoyed being in the school plays and the marching band. Bob was always interested in airplanes and served in the army as an airplane and engine mechanic.
He married Lucile Peterson on March 18, 1955. They were a great team and were together for 53 years. Family members and others were often the recipients of Bob and Lucile’s caring and generosity. Bob worked as a letter carrier for many years and had a great career. He took pride in his work and made many friends on his routes. He loved animals and was especially fond of dogs. Bob was an avid golfer and had many great times with his golf buddies.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. The family would like to thank the staff at Silverado Senior Living and the Silverado Hospice staff for their loving care and support during the last months of his life. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 10 at 1:00 at the Fillmore City Cemetery with a viewing from 11:30 – 12:30 prior to services at the Fillmore 1st & 4th Ward Church (330 E 500 S). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Utah. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
To the Williams & Peterson Families
A flood of happy memories have been in my thoughts since reading of Bob’s passing. Never were there next door neighbors as caring and fun to be with as Lou and Bob. I feel sad too not to be with them and my Noel now, going over the “remember when we did … a zillion fun things together the years we lived next door??? I firmly believe it is a joyous reunion. Hey, wait for me.
Love, Nell Peek
