Donald Lynn Glines returned to his Heavenly Father and was joyfully reunited with his loved ones on April 2, 2017, due to complications following an auto accident. He was born In Salt Lake City, Utah to loving parents, Glenn and Erma Glines, March 16, 1935. He grew up in Bountiful and Salt Lake City, Utah. Donald was a student at South High and University of Utah. He served a two year mission in the Western Canadian Mission, and spoke fondly of the people he served and loved there. After returning from his mission Donald married Shirley Faye Brown on June 20, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Donald worked many jobs within the community and church. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Services for 16 years and retired from BYU Building Management. In the church he worked with the young men’s, cub scouts, Sunday School, and served in branch presidencies. In 2003 Donald and Shirley served a mission in Adelaide, Australia. They were anxiously engaged in serving the people and loved their time there.
Donald and Shirley lived in many areas in Utah including, West Bountiful, Alpine, Moab, Orem, and Mount Pleasant. They had many adventures together and made many friends that they loved like their extended family.
Among Donald’s many travels and adventures he served in the U.S Naval Reserve for 12 years, learned to fly airplanes, played football for the University of Utah, was a true blue BYU fan, a mechanic, and jack of all trades.
His mischievous sense of humor and calm demeanor was one that was loved by his family and those who were close to him. He was an outstanding example for all those around him. He was always true and faithful in serving in the gospel and believed deeply in Christ. Donald was a husband that always loved and respected his wife, Shirley. He loved all his children equally and the world revolved around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his eternal companion, Shirley Faye Glines; children, son-in-law Arthur Colegrove, Sylvia (Eric) Robison, Gregory (Sheri) Glines, Ruth Ann (Robert) Ivie, Colleen (Paul) Guymon, Kamille Glines, Kevin (Denise) Glines, daughter-in-law Erin Glines, 20 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; Siblings, David (Dovie) Glines and Marilyn Short; Sister-in-law Brenda (John) Gordon; and beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two of his children Cynthia Colegrove and Bradley Glines.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12 at 11am, at the Mount Pleasant 3rd Ward, 295 S State St. Mount Pleasant, Utah. Viewing on Tuesday evening 6:00– 8:00 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant 3rd Ward, and Wednesday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary in Sandy, Utah.
