Delores Giles Parker

October 28, 1936 – July 21, 2017

ParkerDeloresOur sweet, sassy mom and grandma, Delores Giles Parker, was born October 28, 1936 in Ogden, Utah to Alice Evelyn Rogers and Jesse Huntsman Giles. She shared her adventures as a young, rebellious girl regularly with all who loved her. At the age of 16, she met George Herbert Parker at a bar in Ogden where she and her friends loved to go dancing. She recognized him as the man she had dreamed of years earlier who would become her husband.
Mom and Dad married September 17, 1953. The United States Air Force took them to various destinations around the world as their family grew to include six children. Mom was actively involved in the NCO Wives Club, church activities, and ensuring her children lived to see another day during their childhoods, all while Dad served our country. Mom also developed a love of genealogy and family history that lasted her entire life. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many positions including Sunday School teacher, Primary Chorister, Family History Consultant, and her most precious calling of Visiting Teacher. She also loved singing in the Ward Choir, contributing her beautiful alto voice to praise our Heavenly Father and uplift others.

Mom and Dad divorced in 1974. She moved our family to Orem, UT in 1975 and worked as a sewing machine operator at Baily’s in Pleasant Grove. While working there, she met Charles M Harris. They married in 1979 and divorced in 1993, but remained lifelong friends. During her years in Utah County, Mom was a unit secretary in the Radiology Department at UVRMC, a bank teller, and a real estate agent.

Mom moved to Yuma, AZ in 1999 to be near her daughters, work on family history, and love on her grandchildren.

Mom was diagnosed with Dementia in 2011. It was difficult to witness her loss of independence, identity, and memories. Through it all, she maintained her feisty spirit and beautiful smile.

Dad, Charles, and great-grandsons Christian Thomas Isham and Christopher Carrion preceded Mom to Heaven. She is survived by her six children: Deborah of Yuma, AZ; George, Jr of Greeley, CO; Timothy (Angela) of American Fork, UT; Ronald (Jeannie) of Talco, TX; Brent (Shaeden) of Orem, UT; Suzanne Camarena (Adam) of Yuma, AZ; 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.
