ChristiansenRuthCrop2Ruth Beck Christiansen 98 years old, passed away in St. George, Utah on December 31, 2017. Ruth was born January 29, 1919 in Centerfield, Utah to Newman Joseph Beck and Stella Petrina Myrup Beck she was the first girl and fourth born in a family of 8. She was raised in Centerfield where she learned the value of hard work by working on the family farm and then going home to help her mother prepare meals and clean. This work ethic followed her throughout her life. She married her sweetheart Harold McNeil Christiansen on October 14, 1937 in Richfield, Utah they were later sealed on August 10, 1951 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were married for 69 years before Harold passed away in 2006. Ruth and Harold enjoyed working in the Manti LDS Temple where they served for many years. Ruth always believed that it was important to treat everyone she came in contact with like family. Her circle of friends is vast and she treasured every one of them. Most important to her was her family. Her legacy is rich and her wise words of wisdom are engraved in our minds. She is loved beyond measure and will surely be missed because she is absolutely one that can’t be replaced. Ruth is survived by three of her six children; Karl (Karen) Christiansen, Randy (Karla) Christiansen, Lana (Dan) Hogan; daughters-in-law, Michelle Christiansen and Jean Christiansen; son-in-law Blaine Stilson; 22 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, daughter Jennie Stilson, sons Howard and Mark Christiansen and a great grandson Jordan Mallory. A gathering and celebration of Ruth’s life will be held January 6, 2018. Viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. with funeral proceeding to be held at 12:00 noon in the Mayfield Ward House. Interment will take place in the Mayfield City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Online condolence

    Lana…it has been a very long time since we were in Gold Key together.I remember so well the dinner we had with our mothers.I remember sitting by you and your mom. My sweet Mother passed away when she was 50 years of age. And look at you,your sweet mother,98 years young. You have truly been blessed to have had her in your life that long.May the Lord wrap his arms around you at this time of sorrow.Sending you all of my love to you and your family.

Richard and I would sometimes stop and visit with her and your dad when we came to Mayfield and it was always such a fun visit. Your mom was always so gracious and inviting and she had such a beautiful smile.
