Bernita Dee Hill Gallup passed away surrounded by family in the early hours of September 25,2022. Beloved great grandmother, grandma, mother and wife during her  82 years of life, she finally succumbed to struggles with diabetes and dialysis.

Bernita was born August 9, 1940 in Sanpete County. She was among four brothers and sisters, preceded in death by Lucille, Donna, and Junior, survived by brother Dal.

Bernita met the love of her life, M.E. “Bud” Gallup and married May 24, 1958. Their love story, filled with hard work and sacrifice, is an extraordinary testament to love, with 64 years together.

Bernita had two children, Mark (Bobbie Jo) and Brad whom she loved dearly. Trips to Rock Creek and family fishing time were always a fond memory to share. Grandma to many grandchildren, Allison (Niklas) Brandon (Amy) Danielle, Cameron (Brittney) and Ashley and multiple step grandchildren, Britney, Jerica, Jayden, BreAnn, Johnny and Grace. She is survived by six of her great grandchildren, Adriana, Savannah, Samuel, Sabrina, Oakley, Creedon and Banx preceded in death by great-grandsons Kobe and Cash.

Bernita was a fighter, the strongest woman, who was full of sugar and spice. We will miss her dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her. We will always feel her presence in our hearts.

Benita was my grandmother’s sister my grandmother being Lucille. I did not know aunt Bernita well but she looked so much like my grandma that every time I saw her my heart would tell me “there’s grandma” I would have to say hello and for just a minute I had my grandma back, Bernita and would give me a hug and say, “you must be one of Lucille’s grandkids” Her sister Lucille had 13 kids so I would tell her “I’m Dahlene’s daughter and she would ask how my mom was and was very kind. I’m sorry to hear of my great aunts passing and hope all of her close family are able to find comfort during this difficult time.
