Linda Ellen Hoddy-Tripp

6/28/1946 ~ 10/11/2019

Hoddy-TrippLinda001FixedLinda, as she is known to Mike, her husband and companion of 38 years, is known as mom to me and 13 others, grandma to 34 grandchildren, and great-grandma to 10 great-grandchildren.
Born June 28, 1946 to John Edward & Artie Jo Merritt Jordan in Barboursville, West Virginia
The story of her family, as it’s known today, started on March, 24, 1981 when she was sealed to Dad in the Washington D.C. Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On that day, a man, woman, and 11 children became a family, sealed to each other for all time. Another three years would see child 12, 13, and 14 added to the roster. Her journey as mom of 14 would take her through five states, at least 10 cities, and at least a dozen homes.
During that time, in addition to being mom and the many hats that title carries with it, she worked as a secretary, saleswoman, trucking and shipping manager, newspaper employee, amusement & waterpark employee, sheriff deputy, corrections officer, and temple worker. It goes without saying that having a family this size required a lot of sacrifice of time, energy, and personal desires in order to raise us into good, decent, self-sufficient members of society.
She lived her life on her terms: loud, laughing, colorful, and often in the service of others. Of all her jobs, titles, and callings, Dad said her absolute favorite was her eight years as a temple ordinance worker. This combined her love of service with her love of her Savior and doing what she could to bring families together, and individuals back to their Father in Heaven.
Survived by her husband Michael Allen Tripp; children, Sarah (John) Taylor; Philip (Cyndy) Hoddy; Cary (Anne) Hoddy; Eric (Rhonda) Hoddy, Anne (James) Sobek; David Tripp; Emily (James) Ferrell; Jack Hoddy; Joshua (Joann) Tripp; April (Scott) Holmes; Sunshine (Darren) Durfey; Melody (Paul) Morley; Chad (Nikki) Tripp; brother Barry (Shahnaz) Jordan. Preceded in death by her parents and son, Timothy N Tripp.
She rejoined her Father in Heaven on October 11, 2019. Those who love her look forward to seeing her again.
Funeral services were held Monday October 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanpitch Ward Chapel. Interment in the Wales Town Cemetery. Online condolences rasmussenmortuary.com

  12. Mike;
    I am so sorry to hear the passing of Linda. God rest her soul: Linda had an incredible gift in that she gave 110% to everything she did- I can not to this day know how that great women did all those responsibilities- what a superb multi-tasker and a champion to her family. I met your wife on several occasions thru Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections Seminars and most notably met her during a seminar where I went up on stage and helped a “Blind Wisconsin State Patrol Officer” performing a task. Linda and I had a blast talking about that after the conference. Mike- remember not many human beings are blessed such as Linda- just remember you had a wonderful life with Linda and she will always be there with you in spirit-God bless,
    John L Ouellet

    I met Linda at the Ephraim Scout office, where she was giving her time and service once again. She always talked to me, and was concerned for me, when I ran into her while shopping. She will be greatly missed!!

    I’m so sorry to hear of your family’s loss. Linda was sure a sparkler and made everything around her joyful and fun. She was my Sunday School teacher when I was a girl and often visited my parents at our dry cleaners. I learned how to be a good babysitter from listening to her talk with them. It was a joy to know her. What a wonderful reunion we will all have! You have my sincerest condolences and prayers for your hearts to be comforted.

  15. Sarah Foster-Norwood says:

    What a bright ray of light she always was to anyone who knew her. She was my all time favorite primary chorister as a child in the Adams-Friendship ward. Always bubbly and exuberant. As an adult I got the pleasure of seeing her frequently when I attended the Manti temple during her service there, which was always a treat. I love that lady so much and know she’s ministering to you from the other side. She wouldn’t have it any other way! Much love to the whole Tripp/Hoddy family.

  16. Chad & Penny Johnson says:
