Harold Thomas Morris (Tom)

Harold Thomas Morris (Tom) was born April 16, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harold & Vivian (Parry) Morris. He was the second of 13 children. He always maintained strong relationships with his brothers and sisters and, together with his wife of 57 years,  became a dedicated and loving patriarch of a large family of his own.

As a young man, Tom worked as a painter’s helper in the family business and he spent his free time in the great outdoors. Pal-ing  around with his Dad and older  brother, Bob, he learned the ins and outs of camping, hunting, fishing, exploring and sometimes even a little bit of mischief.   Later in life, he especially loved when his kids, grandkids, siblings or nephews would come along for a fishing trip, desert trek or drive through the beautiful mountains of Utah. Dorothy Clark Russell

Dorothy Clark Russell passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, 2022 at the age of

98. Dorothy was born on December 9, 1924, in Georgetown, Idaho, the first of five children to Newell Sirls Clark and Meta Margaret Wunderli. After the accidental death of her father when she was seven years old, the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she spent many years. She graduated from West High School in 1942. Her first job was at Snelgrove Ice Cream and then she worked at Eimac, a Division of Varian. She retired in 1983. Dorothy married Harold John Evans on December 11,1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. Kiley Sherman

Kiley Sherman, A beloved mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, Kiley J (Thompson) Sherman left this world after a courageous battle with Serous Ovarian Cancer, at 25, on December 19, 2022.

Born February 4, 1997, in Payson; daughter of Bryan Thompson and Jaime Johnson (stepdad KC Johnson), she was born with a mighty assurance about her that made her stand tall even if she was the cutest little redhead mini-sized girl.

She was known for not holding back her opinion and had a knack for telling it like it is.

Andrew Del Bates

Andrew Del Bates, 51, was born on April 7th, 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed in his sleep on December 17, 2022. Words strung together can’t adequately express how much this mountain of a man will be missed. He is survived by the love of his life, Jen Lyman; his beautiful daughters, Makayla Golden (Taylor) and Harlie Bates (Isaac); the grandchildren whom he was so proud to be Pappy to, Quentin (Q), Paxtin (P), and his grandchild-to-be; his beloved mother Susan Jeffs (Tony) who he felt so grateful to become even closer to in the past few years; his brothers Matt Bates and Levi Bates (Joanie); his sister Brooke Fieger (Brian); his Ma Griswold Jeri Brady, his ride-or-die brother Jason Mardell (Sarah), and the many nieces and nephews who affectionately called him Uncle Drew. He is preceded in death by the Papa of all Papas Master Bates, Leland Maycroft Bates, who Drew studied under as a young Padawan Learner to later become the constant and amazing Jedi of a father that he was. Tony Lynn Edmunds

On December 12, 2022, Tony Edmunds took the next step on our journey here on earth. He was born July 29, 1947 in Payson, Utah to Fred and Edna Edmunds. His childhood memories centered around family, friends, sheep, sheep camps, mutton and sour dough. Tony joined the army in 1964 and proudly served our country in the Vietnam War. He married his first wife Vickie Cox, of Manti, Utah and together they had two children. Trisha and Bret. He left the military and later married Julie Sorensen, together they shared 38 of the very best years that could be spent on earth.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Edna Edmunds; brothers, Jon, Kevin, and Brent Edmunds. He is survived by his children Trisha (Tony) Mitchell, and Bret Edmunds; his wife Julie Edmunds; brothers Phil, Clair Edmunds, and Jeff (Carol) Edmunds; and, his sister Eva (Ken) Olsen; sister-in-law Flora Edmunds. He was loved by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that were like grandchildren to him .

Arelene Delores Syme

Died Dec 6, 2022 in Payson Hospital. Arelene was born to parents: George Maxwell Andrews and Lavella Marjory Miller on July 21st, 1935, in Seattle, WA. She grew up in the little logging town of Shelton, WA until she went off to college where she studied Forestry. Later she moved to Los Angeles where she worked for United Airlines. It was here where she met her husband, John Syme, while he was serving in the navy. They were married on June 25, 1961 and moved to Moroni soon afterwards. Together they had four sons, fifteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She served in many positions and callings in the LDS church and in the community of Moroni. She was employed in many different occupations but most of her career was spent in the veterinary department of Moroni Feed Company, where she retired after 15 years. She spent a lot of time doing family history research. She authored a book on the History of Moroni, which was published in 2009. She enjoyed reading a good book, but it was in the outdoors where she felt most happy, spending many hours working on her yard, tending to her flowers during the spring and summer months. She will be missed by the many that knew her. A funeral service will be held on Dec 17th at 11am in the Moroni Stake Center.

John Corky Maughan

John Corky Maughan passed away November 30, 2022 on Legacy Mountain, Fairview, Utah, where he worked and lived nearby in Mt. Pleasant, Utah for 16 years.
Corky was born to John and Gladean Gillman Maughan in Los Angeles, California on May 25, 1967. He lived there until he was four, then his parents decided to move back to Utah. He grew up in American Fork, Utah, graduated from American Fork High School, then went on to work for his fathers construction company as a heavy equipment operator.
In 2006, he moved to Mt. Pleasant to work on Legacy Mountain Resort, operating and developing sites for luxury cabins, building and maintaining roadways, and was the water master for the Legacy Sweetwater, the community water company.

Kevin was born January 29, 1954 to LaVar and Carrol Dutson in Nephi Utah.

Gary Jacobsen Carter, loving husband, father, brother and friend passed away on December 4th in Spring City, Utah. 

Gary was born on July 2, 1950 in Provo, Utah and was raised by his mother Lois Kathleen Jacobsen Wing and step-father Ray Hugh Wing, and father Floyd Earl Carter and step-mother Lois LaRetta Peay Carter.  Gary spent his youth in Springville hunting with his dog and fishing in Hobble Creek, and said Brookside was a wonderful place to grow up.  He attended school in Springville and graduated from Springville High in 1968.  After graduation he joined the Army where he served his country from 1969-1973, 1969-1970 being stationed in Vietnam. Sandra Lee McLaws

Sandra Lee McLaws, 74, of Oak City, Utah. She was hand picked to return to her heavenly home. Guided by angels and loved ones both here on earth and in heaven. She graduated from this earthly existence December 3, 2022 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, UT.
Sandra embraces her heavenly family; her mother Florence Pratt; brothers Richard Passey and Dennis Freker; sister, Judy Harmon; her eternal husband Franklin McLaws; and son Evan McLaws.
Sandra is survived by her earthly family, brother Paul Freker; sons, Seth and Joseph McLaws; 14 grandchildren who have all been blessed by her love and kindness. She will be honored December 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel in Oak City, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to services 10:00 a.m. 11:30 p.m. Disposition will be in the Oak City Cemetery.
