A. Errol Dearden

July 2, 1938 — January 4, 2025

Fillmore

On the morning of January 4, 2025, our hero, Errol Dearden, passed away surrounded by his loving family. Errol was born on July 2, 1938, in Fillmore, Utah to Londo and Edith Dearden. He was the oldest of six children. Dad has lived his entire life in Fillmore, Utah.

He graduated from Millard High School in 1956. During school he worked at the Dearden Motor Garage and on the farm. After graduation he drove a truck for Wyckoff. He married Kathy Sheehey and had a daughter Julie Kay, later they divorced. He then married Joyce Sorenson in the Manti, Utah Temple on October 6, 1965. They lived in Fillmore, Utah where they raised their 7 children: 3 Boys and 4 Girls.

Errol then went to work for the Utah Department of Transportation and retired after 34 years. He then spent his time still helping at the garages. He also helped Jeff Rasmussen with funeral services, which he really enjoyed.

Errol loved hunting, camping, four wheeling, boating, fishing, Lake Powell trips, and fast cars. He has made many fishing trips taking family and friends in the boat that was his father’s. He was a regular customer at Cabela’s and Sportsman’s Warehouse to get new fishing equipment for his trips. Most of all Dad was a friend to everyone; if he met you, you were his friend. He loved to be around people. He made you feel like you were important. Dad’s greatest accomplishments were his kids and grandkids. He never missed our family get-togethers or important events. He made the best deep-fried turkey every year for Thanksgiving. He was a handyman and could fix anything. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held various callings and positions but was well known for his service rendered outside of his callings. He set a great example for us all to follow.

Dad was a member of the Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years. He was the Utah State Firemen's Association Historian for ten years. He loved going to the Fireman's Conventions and looked forward to them every year. He made many lifelong friends at these conventions.

Errol is survived by Joyce Dearden and his children: Julie Kay (John) Trojan, Paige (Jeff) Steele, Shelli (George) Richardson, Kelli (Dennis) Moore, David (Pam) Dearden, Doug (Amanda) Dearden, Cindy Dearden, Randy (Natalya) Dearden. Twenty-seven Grandchildren and thirty-one Great Grandchildren. Brothers: Tony, Rex, Ted, Lon, and Dan. Preceded in death by his parents, sister JoAnn and her two children.

Dad, we love you and will miss you deeply but will treasure the many memories we have as a family. We look forward to the day we can be together again and get that big hug.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fillmore 3rd Ward (25 South 300 West Fillmore, Utah) on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 11:00 am. Viewings will be Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 6-8 pm and Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am at the same location. Interment will be at the Fillmore City Cemetery.

We would ask all who knew our dad to take some time with your loved ones, make memories, tease them a little, and give them a big hug.
