Allen John Roberts

June 13, 1939 — April 2, 2019

6/13/1939 ~ 4/2/2019

On the morning of Tuesday, April 2nd, Allen John Roberts passed away in his home in Las Vegas, NV, attended to by family.
Allen was born on June 13th, 1939 in Cedar City, Utah to Morris C. and Vee )Aydelotte( Roberts. He graduated from Cedar CIty High School in 1957 and earned both a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a MBA from the University of Utah.
While attending the University of Utah, Allen instrumented rockets for the U.S. Air Force Cambridge Research Center to study upper-atmosphere effects of solar flares and the Aurora Borealis. In his third year of college, he was hired by EG&G to work on Project Rover developing nuclear thermal rocket engines.
After earning his MBA he accepted a position with EG&G in Las Vegas, NV, where he continued to work for thirteen years. Allen then accepted a position with the U.S. Department of Energy, spearheading nuclear reactor waste storage management and eventually managing all government contract work in Nevada, including projects at the Nevada Test Site. (Despite many requests, he never told any family where the aliens are.) He retired from the Department of Energy in May 2000 after 25 years of service.
Allen married Judy Robison on August 14, 1965 in Fillmore, UT. Allen and Judy lived in Las Vegas and raised two children there, Patrick and Katie (Katherine). After retiring, Allen and his wife Judy traveled and took many river cruises, visiting Europe multiple times, as well as Russia, China, Egypt, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The two split time between their primary home in Las Vegas, and a house they bought in Judy’s hometown, Fillmore UT. The couple’s Utah house became a center for family holidays, where three generations of the Roberts family regularly gather.
Allen is survived by his wife Judy, his son Patrick and his wife Carine of Los Angeles, California, his daughter Katherine (Katie) and her husband Jared Carter of Kaysville, Utah, and his grandchildren Mandy (Carter) Hatch, Dominick Carter, Mekenzie Carter, Owen Roberts, and Elina Belle Roberts.
An informal viewing and remembrance for Allen will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13th, at his home in Fillmore, Utah, located at 260 Canyon Road. Graveside services will follow at the Fillmore City Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome at both events. Online condolence rasmussenmortuary.com
