12/7/1998 ~ 1/21/2023
We are heartbroken to announce the death of Brock J. Scholes, beloved son, brother, grandson and nephew on Jan 21, 2023.
Brock was born on Dec 7, 1998 to Joseph and Katrina Scholes. “A day that will live in infamy”, he would often say, quoting Franklin D. Roosevelt. Brock was born with an intelligent mind and a desire to accomplish what others deemed impossible. He was a gifted thinker, with an endless imagination and a vision for himself that was greater than most. Being born into a military family, he lived in many states, including Utah, California, Montana, North Dakota, Texas, Colorado and Nebraska. Brock spent his days reading books, playing video games, watching his favorite shows on tv, and spending time with his brothers.
Brock graduated from Liberty High School in Colorado Springs before attending Snow College, where he graduated with his Associate’s degree. At the time of his death, he was studying Criminology through Utah State’s extension at Snow College.
Brock had many hobbies, which included reading fantasy novels, writing, playing video games with his brothers, swinging, and taking long walks listening to music. He enjoyed dinner and games at his grandparents on Sundays, his mom’s cookies, deep philosophical discussions with his uncles and Dad, and treating his family at his favorite Mexican Restaurant.
While often shy around those he didn’t know, he possessed a deep intellect, a vivid imagination and an incredibly kind, compassionate heart, and was destined from his youth to never be very rich because of his generous nature. He had an abiding compassion for others, often seeking to assist those who were less fortunate. He had a very big heart. He was a hard worker. Though he faced many challenges, he carried a determination through them to make something of himself.
Brock will be missed by those he left behind. He is survived by his loving parents, Joe and Katrina, brothers Tavo, Ian, and Talan, paternal grandparents, Joe and Lela Scholes of Ephraim, his maternal grandmother, Alice Medford and his step-grandfather Ed Medford of Grantham, NC, uncles Keith Brock (Angel), Kelvin Brock (Eric), Mike Scholes, Spencer Scholes, Paul Scholes, and Aaron (Denise) Scholes, Aunts Kimberly Overton, Crystal Brock, Laura Sloan and Rebecca (Mik) Fehlberg, and cousins, Kaitlyn, Konner, Kaleb, Karoline, Kallie, Kyle, Kala, Adaliyne, Luke, Johnny, Rosie, Lela, Ziggy and Kenneth. He is preceeded in death by his maternal grandfather, Granger Lee Brock.
Memorial services will be held Sunday January 29, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary.
