Carol Backus Beardall

September 27, 1949 — October 7, 2021

9/27/1949 ~ 10/7/2021

Carol Backus Beardall, wife of LaMar Beardall, left this mortal world held in the arms of her eternal soul and inspiration and her children on October 7, 2021. She was welcomed home to the arms of her Savior. She had a deep and growing testimony of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation and was firm in her knowledge that families are forever.

She was born to loving parents, Anna Jean Duncan and Earl Eugene Backus, on September 27, 1949. She grew up in Orem where she learned to love and appreciate all facets of nature.

Carol met her sweetheart in ninth grade and has been his eternal companion for 49 years. Carol and LaMar were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on March 3, 1972. They have been inseparable ever since.

Although she has held many titles during her lifetime, Darlin’, Mom and Grammy were her most beloved. Somehow she made every one of her children and grandchildren feel they were her favorite, and they were. She and Poppy always made time to attend every game, concert, recital or special event. She was our biggest cheerleader and fan. Grandkids will forever cherish playing card games, puzzles, and having quiet conversations with Grammy.

Carol knew the name of every bird, tree and flower. She loved autumn leaves and flowering things. She made sure her family appreciated the beauty of God’s creations. She was a gifted real estate agent and was closing deals until the end from her hospital bed. She had a mantra that she lived her life by: “Because nice matters.” Being nice to people in her business and personal relationships was important to her. She truly loved people.

As a righteous member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her most treasured calling was that of a temple worker at the Manti Utah Temple where she served with her eternal companion. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there as she grew in testimony and in friendships.

“If I only could have known you sooner, I could have loved you longer.”

Our loving wife, mom and Grammy is survived by her devoted husband, LaMar Beardall, and five children: Emily (Korey) Wright, Nick (Lareesha) Beardall, Sarah (Andy) Avery, Laura (Fred) Hermansen, and Jenny (Marc) Snijman and 16 grandchildren and two great-children. She is also survived by her three siblings: Gail (Richard) Tolley, Kathryn DeSantis, and Duncan (Meg) Backus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Anna Backus, and her granddaughter, BreaAnn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday October 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Moroni Stake Center (82 N Center, Moroni, UT). A viewing will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church and Thursday 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Moroni City Cemetery.
