9/30/1920 ~ 12/19/2018
Carold A. “Rob” Robison was re-united with his family on Dec. 19, 2018, at the age of 98.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 30, 1920, to Alfred Milton and Pauline Swallow Robison. His former spouse, Ora Loy Nielson Robison; his sister, Carma Joy Robison Larsen; and his parents preceded him in death.
Carold had an interest in flying his entire life. He attempted to volunteer for the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941. He was drafted in July, 1943, and sent to Camp Carson, Co. He was being trained as medic. However, he chose to apply for the Air Corps Officer Candidate School. He trained as a bombardier and was deployed to Italy as part of the 15th Air Force. He flew 29 combat missions over Nazi Germany and was awarded 5 Air Medals. On his last mission, he bailed out of his damaged B-17 and landed in the Adriatic Ocean. After his discharge, he was told he would not walk again. He did. He went on to play in the state championship for Senior Doubles Tennis.
He started the Fillmore Air Service and later worked as a security guard at Dugway Proving Grounds and as a deputy sheriff in Tooele County. He owned and operated and an apartment building in downtown Salt Lake City.
In retirement, he traveled around the West in his RV. When health slowed him down, he remained in Fillmore.
He is survived by a brother-in-law: John S. Larsen, a sister-in-law, Mary Nielson, and also by four nieces: Terri Lyn (Jay) Gardner, Pamela (Michael) Butterfield, JoDean (Mark) Peck, and Jondrae (David) Reeve.
We wish to thank the Richfield Care Center and Hospice at Home for the care that was given him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the Fillmore 2nd ward at 11:00 am, with a viewing one hour before the start. Internment will be in the Richfield Cemetery. Online condolence rasmussenmortuary.com
