Colette Christensen Day

Colette Christensen Day passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her family. Her long struggle with physical and emotional ailments is now over. She fought a good fight, persevered with a cheerful smile and lifted those around her. Colette was born June 25, 1971 in Provo, Utah. Her early years in Kanosh, Utah were formative and magical. She learned to work hard as she shared responsibilities with her siblings at home and on their ranch and farm. While in her early teens, Colette moved with her family to Fillmore where she worked in the family store. She had a passion for cosmetics and beauty which fueled her career as a makeup artist and cosmetics representative for several major lines and retailers. She had a genuine desire to help girls and women feel beautiful.
She married Matt Day on May 28, 1993 in the Manti Temple, and she honored her covenant with purity, love and faith.
Colette put her career on the back burner when she became a mother. She discovered two new passions – her boys and a love for cooking and baking. Braiden and Jordan became her everything. Colette followed them and supported them in everything they did…rain or shine, sickness or health. She raised them with love and conviction – always praying for their success. Her love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is now evident in the lives and choices of her sons and their families.
So many of her friends and family have enjoyed Colette’s cooking and baking. She was particularly well known for decadent pies with incredibly flaky crusts, but she loved to be in her kitchen trying and “perfecting” recipes for all types of food.
Colette struggled with physical and mental health issues her whole life. Her perseverance and successes through those challenges are hallmarks of her life. She never sought attention for herself, instead, she sought to understand and help with the challenges of others.
She is survived by her husband, Matt Day; her sons Braiden (Kylie, grand-daughter Debra Colette), Jordan (Kaitlyn); her parents David and Gaye Christensen; and siblings Jodi (Bob Barnes), Jeff (Kelly), Sheri Kay (Richard Beckstrand), Morgan (Amber), Laina (Shane Lefler). She was preceded in death by her older brother Kyle.
Colette and her family are so grateful for the loving care she and they received for so long from so many nurses, doctors and technicians, and from friends and neighbors who served and ministered. Please accept our sincere gratitude.
Funeral services for Colette will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00 at the Fillmore 1st/4th Ward Building. Visitations will be held Friday, September 13, from 6:00-8:00PM and prior to the funeral from 9:00-10:30AM at the same location. Interment will take place at the Fillmore City Cemetery.
