David F Simmons, 61 of Chester, UT, passed away August 23, 2024 at IMC in Murray, UT. Born September 14, 1962 to Deverl & Marva Zufelt Simmons in Mt. Pleasant, Utah the youngest of three children. Married Alice Jensen May 13, 1983 in Moroni, Utah they raised four children together in Chester, UT in the house he was raised in.
David joined the Marines Corps and served with them for four years. Then later joined the Utah National Guard and served 23 years total.
He learned how to play guitar when he was eight years old and loved playing and signing his entire life. He played in several bands and even tried his luck in Nashville. He also inherited the nickname of Sanpete Presley.
He worked as a mechanic, construction, truck driving and multiple positions at the Gunnison prison.
David loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, David De Simmons; Nicholas Bob Simmons; Crystal Rowe (Adam); Michael P Simmons; grandson William Rowe; sister Shirley Twichell (Danny); brother Verl J Simmon, shalf-sister RaeLyn (Kevin) Crowley. Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanpitch Ward Chapel, (92 S 200 W, Wales, UT 84667) with a viewing from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment in the Chester Cemetery with Military Honors.
