Dennis “Taz” Peterson, 67 of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on June 24, 2020. Born December 2, 1952 to Armond H & Jeannine Margaret Christofferson Peterson in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Married Dixie Lyons in November 24, 1979 in Ely, NV later sealed in the Manti Temple in 1987.
Started working in the coal mine in 1978, where he worked for 37 years before he had to retire for medical reasons. He did many jobs but he loved being a part of the mine rescue crew most of all. They would travel and compete with other mines. He also was a volunteer firefighter for Mt. Pleasant City, he loved it! Every fourth of July he would get up early and let off booms to wake up the town. He would drive the fire truck in the parade with all of his grandkids. Dennis loved camping, hiking, fishing and most of all spending time with his family.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Dixie Peterson; children Ben Nielson, Branden (Michea) Peterson, Corrine (Jarid) Clark, Christi (Kevin) Johnson, siblings, Allene (Ray) Truitt, Linda Peterson, Steven (Cindy) Peterson, Wendie Peterson, 16 grandkids, 4 great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Bobbie Jo, Denise Jenny Peterson, brother Allen Peterson, granddaughter Trisha Joy Nielson and great-granddaughter Presley Grace Jones.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery. Viewings will be held Wednesday July 1, 2020 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the graveside both at Rasmussen Mortuary.
