12/14/1985 ~ 5/12/2018
Derek Shaw Leinbach, 32, of Atlanta Georgia passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Derek was born in Ogden Utah on December 14, 1985. He graduated from Davis High School. Derek served a full time mission in the Georgia, Atlanta Mission. He continued his education at Dixie State University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Information Technology. Derek was a web developer at Solution Stream which led him to his dream career in the airline industry. He most recently worked as a flight ops specialist on the Delta Airbus A350.
Derek was an adventurer, never missing out on a chance to hop on a flight, whether it was to grab a cheesesteak and baseball game in Philadelphia or to journey 16 hours from Atlanta to South Africa just to spend a weekend with his then-long-distance girlfriend and now-wife, Angela. With over 200 trips around the globe, few had and took the opportunity to see the world as he did.
Most importantly, Derek was a devoted son to parents Jon and Peggy, a loving and much-loved husband to Angela and a loyal friend to all. He was a kind, cheerful soul, quick to laugh and joke, and could bring a smile to anyone’s face with his subtle, but wicked sense of humor. Cross paths with Derek, and you couldn’t help but grow attached fast.
Derek is survived by wife Angela, parents Jon and Peggy, siblings: Cassie Gardner (Jordan), Bryant Leinbach (Sammi), and Lynsie Leinbach; nephews: Jackson, Cannon, and Carson Gardner and Tace and Dean Leinbach. Preceded in death by: niece Macie Jo Gardner and nephew Trevin Leinbach.
