Diana Lee Allred

July 15, 1949 — January 7, 2025

Spring City

Diana Lee Allred died at her home in Spring City on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, surrounded by her family.  Diana was born on July 15, 1949, in Wilmington, Delaware.  She was the oldest child born to Frederick Hughes Chapman and Marjorie Lumley Chapman.

She graduated from Christiana High School in Newark, Delaware in 1967.  She competed on the varsity basketball and softball teams and was also a team member in a Delaware softball league where they won the State Championship.

Diana graduated from Colby Junior College in New Hampshire in 1969 and was on the tennis and ski teams.  She also created an abundance of stunning art sculptures in her art classes while a student there.

She later attended the Katherine Gibb Secretarial School in New Jersey and graduated in 1970.  With the exceptional skills she learned she was able to land a job with a high-level executive at DuPont Company.

While growing up in Delaware, Diana was active in all sports.  She loved rescuing animals of all kinds – cats, dogs, rabbits, turtles and even a raccoon!  She loved going to the beach, gardening, fishing, golfing and sailing at the cottage on the Bohemia River.  Her annual blue crab feasts on Labor Day were the season closing events at the cottage that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Diana met David Allred of Spring City while he was attending school at the University of Delaware.  He and his friends had gone to the

Stone Balloon Night Club, and he spotted Diana in the crowd, and asked her to dance.  They began dating and eventually married on June 1, 1974, at the Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware.

David and Diana moved to Spring City in the Spring of 1976.  After moving to Spring City, she was still very active in sports.  She organized a women’s softball, volleyball and basketball team.  She joined the women’s golf league at Palisades Golf Course and won the league championship multiple times.

She and David were blessed with two daughters, Jaime Leigh and Jennifer Lyn Allred.

Diana is survived by her husband David, daughter Jaime (Ammon Johnson), grandchildren Braiden, Breilyn and Alex all of Spring City, brother Rich Chapman of Arizona and sister Jennifer (John) Clark of Florida.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents Frederick H. and Marjorie L. Chapman, little brother Frederick L. Chapman, daughter Jennifer Lyn Allred, and parents-in-law Louis S. and Winona Allred.
