Dixie Nielson

Dixie Nielson, 86 of Moroni, Utah, passed away at her home on April 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Bernard Edward and Enid Prestwich Nielson, born in Moroni, Utah on March 12, 1936. Dixie attended local schools in Fountain Green, and graduated from Moroni High School. She married Burke Nielson on June 4, 1954 in the Manti Temple.
Dixie had several church callings but loved her Relief Society calling the most. She and Burke served a church service mission at the Bishop’s Storehouse from February 2001until 2003. She helped start the Emergency Medical Service in the Sanpete area and worked with them for several years. Dixie had a beautiful voice and sang with a double trio for over 40 years. These sisters entertained as often as they were called to do, they sang in church services, funerals and other functions. She loved reading, spending time with her sisters at the cabin, and made delicious rolls. She had the ability to make everyone feel like they were her favorite. Dixie loved celebrating Christmas Eve and the 4th of July with her family.
Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Joan (Stewart) Christensen, and brother Bruce (Loretta, Janene) Nielson. She is survived by her husband Burke Nielson, daughters Teri (Max) Bell , Gail Anne (Wayne) Howell, and Gaye Deen Zabriskie; her sisters Fern (Mike) Cloward and Phyllis (Leland) Thompson; 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on April 11, 2022 in the Moroni Stake Center at 11:00 a.m. Viewings, Sunday, April 10 from 6-8 p.m. and Monday prior to services from 9:30 -10:30, both in the Moroni Stake Center. Interment in the Moroni City Cemetery.
