Donald Sides

Donald Howard Sides passed away peacefully December 25,2024 in Fillmore Utah.  Born on August 31st,1946 in Cape Girardeau Missouri to Howard and Betty Sides. Donald was the first of four children followed by Darrel (deceased) Vickie Carrier and Kurt Sides. 

Donald grew up in Kaysville, Utah. Graduated from Davis High School in 1964. Donald attended Utah State and Weber State.  He worked at Bowman’s in his youth. He served in the Utah National Guard. 

Donald married the love of his life Laurie Cunnington at the Salt Lake Temple in 1972. Together they welcomed their 3 children.  Monte, Wyatt and Katie. 

Donald retired from the Davis School District. He enjoyed training and riding horses.  He loved to rope calves and team rope. He was a member of the RMRA Rodeo Association, Twin Star Riders and the Senior Pro Rodeo Association. Donald served as the Davis Fair Board Manager for 3 years and spent many countless hours working towards getting the fairgrounds and arena back to Farmington. 

Donald and Laurie lived in Farmington 42 years then moved to Scipio, Utah where he enjoyed riding horses, golfing and making new friends.

Donald is survived by his two siblings Vickie (Pete) Carrier and Kurt Sides. His wife Laurie Sides.  Son Monte (Crystal) Sides, daughter Katie (Chris) Jacobs.  6 grandchildren.  Colton, Cooper, Kylee, Talor, Jordan and Jessica. 

Donald is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Betty Sides, brother Darrel Sides,  and son Wyatt Sides. 

A celebration of life will be held December 30, 2024 from 6:00-9:00 pm.  At the Kaysville Stake house. 201 South 600 East Kaysville Utah. 

Funeral services will be held January 2nd at 11:00am at the Scipio Ward. 85 West 100 North Scipio, Utah. Prior to the funeral services will be a viewing for family and friends from 9:00-10:30 am. Interment in the Scipio cemetery.
