Dorothy Bertha Matthews

4/24/1934 – 2/28/2023

Dorothy Bertha Matthews formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, in her eighty eighth year passed away on 28 February 2023 at her home in Mesquite, Nevada, surrounded by her family. She was born on 24 April 1934 at Alloa, Ontario, Canada to Sydney Charles and Amy (Gilbert) Mercer. She married Leslie Matthews on 23 May 1952 at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. They were sealed for time and all eternity 24 May 1969 in the Oakland California LDS Temple.
Dorothy was raised and educated in Southern Ontario, Canada and attended high school in Simcoe, Ontario. She enjoyed gardening, working with animals, knitting, sewing, quilting, cooking delicious meals, and spending time with family and friends. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in many capacities. Dorothy is survived by her husband Leslie Matthews of Mesquite Nevada, and children, Amy Bevilockway (Thomas) of Glenwood Utah, Edward Matthews of Mesquite Nevada, Leah Anderson (Todd) of Moroni Utah. Nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren. Special friends Hollee and Kenneth Anderson. Many other “grandchildren” who adopted her. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Graveside services will be held Saturday 15 April 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Moroni City Cemetery Moroni, Utah. A gathering will begin prior to services at 10:30 AM. Interment Moroni City Cemetery.
