5/17/1926 ~ 5/4/2022
Erma Paice Nielson passed away on May 4, 2022, in Oak City, Utah at the age of 95.
Mom was born May 17, 1926, in Beaver, Utah to Caleb Edwin and Martha Dean Paice. She married Alden John Nielson on June 22, 1948 in the Manti, Utah temple. They were married 72 years and could frequently be seen holding hands and stealing kisses from each other. Mom and Dad were a great team! They were blessed with 3 sons and 3 daughters.
Mom graduated from Branch Agricultural College (SUU) in Cedar City, UT and Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, UT. She taught first grade at Oak City Elementary School for one year.
Mom was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and expressed it in many quiet, yet unmistakable ways. She served in many church callings, including Relief Society President, Primary President, teacher and others, but her favorite calling was that of a nursery leader. Mom and Dad served in the Bahia Blanca, Argentina Mission.
Mom and Dad frequently visited family, friends and neighbors with fresh fruit and vegetables, or delicious homemade bread for them to enjoy.
She loved when the family came to visit! The grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved going to Grandma’s house to play with the toys, draw on the chalkboard, and eat a bowl of ice cream or a cookie before they left. Mom supported her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their sports and other activities. She loved going, even when she could no longer see.
Mom loved music and enjoyed singing in the ward choir and playing the piano, especially in the evenings before going to bed. She loved being out in nature and instilled a love of it in her family. While she could still see, Mom enjoyed painting many of those beautiful scenes.
Mom was the epitome of enduring well and was an amazing woman!
