George E. “Ted” Dart

George E. “Ted” Dart passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 2, 2022 in Bountiful, Utah. Ted was born April 19, 1934, in Spanish Fork, Utah to Ambrose Lee Dart and Rachel Moore. Ted was the fourth of six children. Ted graduated from Spanish Fork High School and entered the U.S. Navy. He served in several locations with extended duty in Japan and Alaska. Ted married Charlene Peterson in 1955 and after completing his enlistment, settled in Provo, Utah where he attended Brigham Young University. After graduation, they moved to Spanish Fork where Ted taught Science at Spanish Fork Jr. High. Seeking further education, Ted, Charlene, and their little family relocated to Corvallis, Oregon. In Corvallis, he attended Oregon State University where he graduated with a master’s degree in Zoology. After graduating from OSU, Ted and his growing family again relocated, moving to the small desert town of Borrego Springs, California where Ted was the Science Department at Borrego Springs High School. Ted was famous for his study and instruction of desert animals and his devotion to “Rams” sports. He is also fondly remembered for the many miles spent in the passenger seat of the high school driver’s ed car. Ted was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in numerous callings including serving as Branch President during the construction of the chapel in Borrego Springs. Ted and Charlene raised five children. Ted was a hard worker, often working two jobs to provide for his family. Devoted to his kids, he was a great supporter of all their activities and sports endeavors. Shortly after his retirement in 1993, Ted and Charlene moved back to Utah settling in the small town of Mount Pleasant, where he and Charlene quickly found themselves at home and established many great relationships.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, his beloved wife Charlene, their son Craig, daughter-in-law Sharon, and great-grandson Marco Benitez. Ted is survived by his sister Teri Van Patten, his children Robin Smith, Bruce Dart, Raylene Dart, and Boyd (Allison) Dart, 22 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday November 12th at the Mount Pleasant 4th Ward Building, 49 South State, Mount Pleasant, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
