Glade Larry Olson

November 18, 1939 — April 18, 2023

11/18/1939 ~ 4/18/2023

Glade Larry Olson, of Moroni, Utah, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the age of 83. Glade was a generous and loving husband, son, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Glade was born November 18, 1939, to Oscar Martin Olson and Harriet Lavon Wilson Olson, he was the youngest of their four children. Glade married his high school sweetheart, Rhea Jean Livingston, on October 4, 1957, in Moroni, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti Utah Temple on February 8, 1964. Glade and Jean were not only husband and wife, but best of friends until Jean passed away in 2020. They spent their 62 years together in Moroni, Utah where they raised their four children.

Glade loved and adored each one of his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and watching them grow up.

Glade was a truck driver for Moroni Feed Company for 53 years, safely driving over 4 million miles and making friends everywhere he went.

Glade was an avid outdoors enthusiast and was especially passionate about hunting and fishing. He never missed a deer hunt, even in his later years. His most cherished memories were of the hunting and fishing trips with his loved ones. Glade baited countless hooks for generations of children, including his great grandchildren. He looked forward to fishing trips with family to Otter Creek, Nine Mile, and Lake Powell.

Growing up in Moroni, Glade excelled at sports and was a multisport athlete for North Sanpete High School. He was a fierce competitor on the basketball court and on the baseball field. Later in life, he participated in a bowling league with his wife Jean.

Glade also loved a good story and could hold his own with the best storytellers. He was well known for his hunting and fishing stories. He captivated the hearts and minds of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for years. It didn’t matter if it was the first or the hundredth time you heard the story, it was a good story because grandpa was telling it.

Glade is survived by his daughter Janet Seely, Mount Pleasant, Utah; his daughter Marion (James) Kendall, Nephi, Utah; and his son Larry (Robin) Olson, Kaysville, Utah; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and his beloved dog, Trash.

Glade was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Harriet Lavon; his wife Jean; his son Kirk L. Olson; his great-grandson Jaiden Kirk Christensen; his siblings Florence Lavon Clarke, Reid Oscar Olson, and Gwen Harriet Davis; and his son-in-law Stanton Seely.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Jerold Taylor and the nurses and staff at Central Valley Medical Center for the kindness and the loving care they provided to Glade throughout his stay. The family would also like to thank Rasmussen Mortuary for their professionalism and attentive care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00am at the Moroni Stake Meetinghouse, 82 North Center Street, Moroni, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service at 9:00 am. Glade will be buried beside Jean at the Moroni City Cemetery during a graveside service.
