Our dear husband, father and grandfather Mack Zahler passed away on March 7th, 2020 at the age of 82 years old in Mt. Pleasant Utah. He was born on August 15th, 1937 in Salt Lake City Utah, to Leonard Kirkham Zahler and Sue Anona McConkie. In his earlier years, he attended West High School and University of Utah for some time and served our country in the U.S. Army. On November 20th, 1960, he married his sweetheart Elsie Marie Mathews and raised his two sons.
He is survived by his wife Elsie Marie, his son Leonard Brooke and wife Suzy Brown, his son Aaron Mack and wife Giovanna Di Nicola; and his three grandchildren Paolo, Abbie and Zack. He is also survived by his sister Dawna Middlemiss and her six children.
Mack is preceded in death by both his and Elsie’s parents and grandparents, Elsie’s brothers Glen and Arthur Mathews, as well as his beloved cousin Dennis Reich with whom he was raised as a brother by their grandmother. Mack had a great heart and was loved by many whom he considered his friends, including the Mataos and Begay families whose children were like grandchildren to him. Little to say he enjoyed family, extended family and friends gatherings.
During his life Mack’s passion for animals led him to acquire an extensive knowledge of wildlife, domestic animals and special love for birds. Mack worked for most of his life for Kennecott Copper and retired from it thirty years later.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
