Gloria Jean Coates

Gloria Jean Coates, 74, passed away on October 23, 2022 at her home in Mt. Pleasant, UT. She was born May 8,1948 in Mt. Pleasant, UT to Bernard (Herb) Jacobsen and Betty Ann Scow. Gloria is survived by her two daughters, Tina Carter of Las Vegas, NV; Robyn (Preston) Cox of Fountain Green, UT; her brother, Mel (Carol) Jacobsen of Ephraim, UT; two stepdaughters, Laura Coates of Arlee, Montana and Brittany (Mostafa) Sargent-Hassan of the United Arab Emirates; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Gloria is preceded in death by her husband Doyce, son Alan, parents Herb and Betty, brothers Don and Jim, and stepson Dec.

Gloria worked many years at Sperry Univac, at both their Ephraim and Salt Lake locations. She was a manager for the 3M corporation in Salt Lake and later retired from the Census Bureau in 1997. Gloria loved traveling with Doyce. Africa, Netherlands, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and Arizona were all places of enjoyment. The time she spent with friends and family during these travels, creating memories, was of great importance to her. Gloria was proud of the home that she and Doyce built together. When not on the east mountain, or at the annual BBQ, folks could find her on the front porch enjoying the beautiful view of the Sanpete valley. Perhaps Gloria’s greatest love was watching and being a steadfast influence on her grandchildren. Travis, Alec, Blade, and Coldir, in particular, have all been touched by her loving hand, tender heart, and sassy sense of humor. Gloria will be remembered as a wife, mom, grandma and friend. As the soul of her family, she will be greatly missed.

Please join Gloria’s family at Rasmussen Mortuary for a funeral for close friends and family on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be at the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
