Gloria Wight

Gloria Lorraine Archibald Wight, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all, passed away peacefully, July 31, 2024, at the Gunnison Valley Hospital in Gunnison, Utah, after a short illness.

Gloria was born September 28, 1942, in Granite, Salt Lake County, Utah, to Glenn William Archibald and Ruby Lorraine Dow Archibald. She was the oldest of five children. She is survived by her sisters, Glenda and Robyn and her brother Duane. Preceded in death by her parents and brother John. 

Gloria married Bruce Atkinson Wight on November 1,1958 and have been together for 65 years. Together they raised a beautiful family of 14 children. Each one was special to her. She claimed every son and daughter-in-law as her own. Children are Dale (Olga), Jullianne Wayman (Joseph), Debra Keate (Lonnie) Jeffery (Nancy), Mark (Andrea), Matthew (Kathleen), Andrew (Elizabeth), Anita Dutson (David), Heather (Leroy), Jonathan, Elizabeth Chatwin (Samuel), Aaron (Ruth), Daniel (Heather). Preceding her in death is a son, Jeff, and an infant daughter.

Gloria was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She spent her days serving and blessing her children and posterity. Her hands were always busy, sewing, cooking, crocheting, knitting and doing things for others. She was a very tidy and organized person and kept an immaculate house. She loved babies and children. Her posterity includes more than 100 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren as well as one great-great-grand-child that she was able to meet shortly before her passing. She loved every one of them. She knitted or crocheted baby blankets for nearly every grandchild. 

She had a way of making a sweet impression on all who met her; she was a friend to all and leaves a legacy of love, service and caring to all who knew her. Gloria will be immensely missed by all. We are so grateful she is free from pain and has gone to receive a well-earned, eternal reward.

A quiet family graveside/interment service will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in Spring City Cemetery (Spring City, Utah) with a viewing from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at Rasmussen Mortuary (96 N 100 W, Mt. Pleasant).
