Grace Blanche Hone Peterson

June 6, 1935 — January 29, 2019

6/6/1935 ~ 1/29/2019

Grace Blanche Hone Peterson, was born June 6th, 1935, to Caledon and Maude Hone in Gunnison, Utah. She passed away peacefully at the age of 83, at her home in Mayfield, on January 29th, 2019 surrounded by her husband of 69 years, her children and grandchildren.

Grace and Evan were married in Manti, Utah December 15th 1949 and were later sealed in the Manti Temple. They settled in Mayfield, near family, where they raised their 5 children and resided there for 69 years.

Grace was the best homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother a family could ask for. She dedicated all of her time to her family while holding down a 40+ hour job working at the local grocery store and helping with the family dairy farm. On the weekends the kids would all gather at her house for sleepovers, which made the family extremely close. Her home was a place of peace and comfort but mostly fun. Her home was also a place for nieces, nephews and the neighborhood kids to gather and play.

Grace felt very fortunate to have her 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren living within a mile of her home. There are only 3 families that don’t live in Mayfield. Everyone loved her so much and dropped by often for an otter pop, a chocolate chip cookie or just to say hello. She will be deeply missed but happily reunited with her family in heaven.

Grace is survived by her husband, Evan, children Elaine Nielson, Evlynn (Alan) Peterson, Janet (Kirk) Anderson, Van Peterson and Kenneth (Lola) Peterson, sister Velva Dennison. Preceded in death by her parents, infant son Evan Jr. Peterson, brother Verdon Hone and sister Arminta Trolin.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr Dwight Inouye, Wade Anderson, PA, At Home Hospice, all the nurses and care givers at Gunnison Valley Hospital for their kind and loving care.

Funeral service will be held Saturday February 2, 2019 at 12:00 noon in the Mayfield LDS Chapel with a viewing from 10:00-11:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Mayfield Town Cemetery under the care of Rasmussen Mortuary.
