Greg Earl Nelson was the most selfless husband, father, brother, son, and friend. You could write a whole book on all of the amazing things he has done for others. Greg left this life suddenly and unexpectedly on November 2nd 2023, in the mountains doing one of his many favorite hobbies, hunting with his best friend.
Greg was born in Mt Pleasant, Utah on May 22nd 1988 to Julie Dye and Gregory Frank Nelson. After graduating from North Sanpete High School in 2006 Greg went on to do many things, as Greg would say he was a “Jack of all trades, Master of none!”. He married Megan Casperson on June 18th 2011 and they had a beautiful baby girl on January 30th 2014; Preslee Kay Nelson, who gained her angel wings shortly after birth. Greg and Megan later divorced and the loss of his first daughter was something he carried with him every day. He then met Jasmine and together they welcomed the joy of his life daughter Genesis Nelson, Gen brought love and purpose back to his life. She was blessed with his dimples, his stubbornness, and his love for family. While living in Vernal Greg walked into a gas station one day and met the love of his life Kristina Nelson in 2019. As soon as he saw Kristina he knew he was going to marry her, he walked right up to her and said “Hey beautiful eyed girl, can I have your Facebook?” And the rest was history. They fell madly in love and married on June 11th 2021. Not only did Greg fall in love with Kristina he would go on to fall in love with her three beautiful children Johnathon Peterson 19; Jaycee Peterson 18; and Jayden Peterson 10; from day one he loved them and treated them like his own.
The simplest pleasures in life brought Greg great joy. He loved being in the mountains with his family hunting, fishing, riding, anything that involved a dirt road or water. Greg’s main goal in life was to make every single person in his life happy. He wasn’t happy unless everyone around him was. The way he could light up a room with his bubbly personality and his contagious laugh is something we will all miss. Greg was an extremely hard worker and did everything he could to give his 4 kids and his wife the life he always wanted. Greg’s love for kids was immense and his favorite thing was getting to teach all the kids in his life about all of the things he knew, from restoring cars and trucks to hunting and fishing. Music played a huge role in Greg’s life and he was always down for singing in the living room music blasting with those he loved. Family was number one in Greg’s life.
He leaves behind his parents Julie and Barney Dye; the love of his life and wife Kristina Nelson; Daughters Genesis Nelson 7; Jaycee Peterson 18; sons Johnathon Peterson 19; and Jayden Peterson 10; Siblings Justin Dye (Maddi); Courtney Rowe; Randi Dennis; Linzee Turner; Lacey Schwartz; And many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his dad Gregory Nelson; Grandparents Donnel and Dianne Otteson; Maxine and Samuel Dye; Frank and Verla Nelson, and his daughter Preslee Kay Nelson.
Greg will be cremated, and we will have a celebration of life on Saturday November 11th 2023. Family and friends will meet at the Wales city building @ 11:00am to listen to music and remember him, a luncheon will follow at 1:00pm.
