Jacqueline Teeples Bona

A sweet, gentle soul has gone home.

Jacqueline Carole Teeples Bona was born on September 26, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Verl Willis and Jessie Graham Teeples. She was the only sister to big brothers Terry and Karl. Jackie attended Granger High School, where she was a cheerleader, and graduated from East High School in 1964, where she was active in choir. She also became a licensed cosmetologist. She worked in a salon at McInerny’s—a high-end department store on the island of Oahu—and later made presentations at beauty schools and hair shows throughout the western United States.

Jackie married David L. Ewell and they had four beloved children, Richard, Teresa, Clinton and Trudi. She married Monte Bona on August 23, 1985, bringing seven stepchildren into her family.

Although she was blessed with Doris Day beauty, Jackie was unassuming and preferred to focus on others, often approaching strangers with sincere compliments.

Jackie died peacefully in Mount Pleasant, Utah, on November 28, 2022, in the historic home of her dreams with her husband by her side, as was her deepest wish.

She is survived by her husband, Monte; by her brothers, Terry W. Teeples and Karl Teeples; by her children and their spouses, Richard (Marie) Ewell, Teresa Ewell, Clinton (Clara) Ewell and Trudi (Brad) Baker; by her stepchildren Shauna (Bob Sobocinski) Bona, Lori (Ray Darling) Bona Hunt, René (Cole) Clarke, David (Amy) Bona and Meredith (John) Vehar; by sons-in-law John Sorensen and Courtney Hale; and by 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, whose birthdays she never missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepdaughters Jennifer Sorensen and Merica Hale.

A memorial service will be held December 10 at 1 p.m. in the Music Conservatory Building at Wasatch Academy, 91 South 100 West, Mount Pleasant, Utah. Interment will be at a later date at Spanish Fork City Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Intermountain Healthcare and Hospice, most especially Shaylynn, Kallie, and Tammy, as well as to her private caregiver Sheena.
