Jacob A. Christensen

Jacob A. Christensen; Our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed away on Saturday, May 25th in the beautiful mountains, west of Ephraim, overlooking Manti LDS Temple, both of which he loved so much.
Jacob was born on August 9, 1981 to Shirley Rae Bronson Westenskow and John Paul Christensen in Salt Lake City Utah. He was all boy! He had more energy than any three kids combined, always on the move. He loved organizing the large group of neighborhood kids in everything from riding a zip line in our back yard that ended in hitting a tree, to swimming in the fish pond east of Mt Pleasant. He loved climbing trees, visiting neighbors, and any and every adventure he could find! He was also a great snuggler. He’d wake up in the morning and crawl into his mother’s lap, dragging a full size Star Wars bedspread as a security blanket and let her kiss his cheeks as many times as she wanted.
He loved people, and people loved him. He was a brilliant streak of light with a smile as shining as the fires he lit in the yard…several times. He was always on the move, and everything was an adventure! He broke his arm one year, then immediately broke the cast trying to bat a baseball with it, and even jumped in to go swimming cast and all. We finally had to make it three layers thick! Another time he broke his leg which didn’t stop him from riding a bike all over the neighborhood, popping wheelies and teetering with both hands in the air! Once he caught the cast in the spokes of his tire, throwing him over the handle bars and onto the pavement. He came up laughing and crying at the same time!
He loved the outdoors just like his dad, and never tired of camping, fishing, hiking and hunting. He learned to rock climb, went on week-long backpacking/canoe trips with friends, and hiked over the mountains from Scipio to Oak City several times. He loved life and all it had to offer him.
He attended Snow College, earning his Bachelor of Science degree and attended USU, studying psychology. He served for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Atlanta Georgia mission and you could always hear a little southern drawl when he spoke in public. Most recently he worked as a cattle ranch hand near the mountains he loved. He was so devoted to and proud of his work, his boss, and the Brahma bulls he felt a kinship with. He loved his family and friends unconditionally, and was generous with his time and his love.
He was brilliant with a near-genius IQ , the wisdom of a shaman, and a photographic memory, He was a great scriptorian and had vast knowledge of many religions. We all learned so much from him!
He is survived by his parents: John (Julie) Christensen, and Shirley (Lloyd) Westenskow; siblings: Sonnie (Ryan) Jardine, Alice (Casey) Thurber, CJ (Tiana) Christensen, Elizabeth (Martin) Oelofsen, Adam (Nikkie) Higham, Whit (Cari) HIgham, Kira (Jason) Romero, Hanna (Sage) Lund, Nathan Westenskow, Tiffany (Jesse) Westenskow, Jeremy (Alie) Westenskow, Travis (Tiff) Westenskow, Michael Westenskow, Kasey (Daile) Westenkow, and Lorna (Michael) Martin; 35+ nieces and nephews; grandmothers: Sonja Bronson, Betty Westenskow and Bonnie Whitaker. Preceded in death by sister, Valerie Lynn Fierro and nephew Cory Fierro, Grandparents Chesley Ray and Sharen P. Christensen, Marvin Bronson, and Ed Whitaker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ephraim 6th ward building, 450 N 200 W, Ephraim Utah. Visitations will be held Friday from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. both at the church. We ask everyone who knew and loved him to plant a flower in his name.
