Joan Ileen Stott

March 10, 1930 — May 27, 2020

3/10/1930 ~ 5/27/2020

Joan Ileen Stott, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother passed away peacefully on May 27, 2020.  She was born March 10, 1930 to Clifford and Alta Robins Stewart in Meadow, Utah.  Joan was the fourth of seven children. She spent her youth surrounded by a loving family who enjoyed each other’s company and worked together in completing the tasks of their farm and home.

Following her graduation from Millard High School, Joan moved to Salt Lake City where she worked in the Improvement Era office. She eventually returned to Meadow, Utah and married Joseph B Stott on March 29, 1948 in the Manti Temple. They made their home on their family farm in Meadow, Utah.  Joan was a busy homemaker and devoted mother to her four boys: Gale, Van, Tony and Kay.

Throughout her life, Joan enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her gardens.  Spring was always welcomed to Meadow, Utah with the blooming of Joan’s beautiful flower garden.  One of nature’s special sights was Joan’s bed of iris with a dusting of new fallen snow enhancing its beauty.  You knew summer had arrived when the knock on your door was Joan sharing the bounties from her spring garden. One of life’s mysteries was why the weeds would never grow in her garden.  Fall was harvest time—Joan was always busy trying to beat the winters early frost. Most of all, fall was raspberry harvest time. Each of us got our container of Joan’s frozen raspberry jam—the taste of which we will never forget.

Joan was blessed with the Christ like ability to love unconditionally—all of us were made to feel we were her favorite. She truly made everyone feel special. She lived her life as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, firm in her faith as a Latter-day Saint. Her love for her family, home, and Heavenly Father guided her daily decisions.  She gave of her time and was thoughtful of others to the very end.  She spent her time throughout the years serving in many church callings, going the extra mile in Ward Relief Societies, Name Extraction and Librarian capacities. Family History and Genealogy were a love for Joan—you only needed to step into her office and see the hours of work represented by the stacks of computer data to realize her devotion to this priority in her life.  People would often seek Joan out to find information regarding Family History and Genealogy.

Joan is survived by her four sons: Gale Stott, Van (Carol Jean) Stott, Tony (Wendy) Stott, Kay (Wendy) Stott; 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and brother Thad (Racquel) Stewart.  She is preceded in death by her spouse Joe Stott, parents, four sisters: Readel Stewart (died in infancy), Gwen Sargent, Hope Peterson, Beth Tucker; brother Thell Stewart, grandchild Elli Sarah Stott, and great-grandchild Chaslynn Ivy Stott.

A graveside service and interment for family and friends will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Meadow Cemetery. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com
