Joyce Olsen Parry

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Joyce Olsen Parry, 88, passed away August 10, 2018 in Centerfield, Utah. She was born June 26, 1930 to Harvey and Goldie Olsen in Moroni, Utah. She married her college sweetheart Wilford Dean Parry, July 7, 1951 in Manti, Utah.

Joyce’s greatest love was her family. She was a wonderful and dedicated mother and grandmother. Anyone who ever stopped by “Grandma’s” house was sure to be greeted by an always-ready supply of toys and treats. Joyce was an amazing cook and was the first to bring a meal to anyone who was sick or in need of care. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Joyce also served those in her community in many capacities.

The mountains were another one of Joyce’s great loves. In her younger days, Joyce loved to hunt and fish. In her later years, she enjoyed hearing the hunting and fishing stories told by her kids and grandkids. She always made it a point to make it to deer camp every year. Everyone in the family knew that one of the best things you could ever do for Grandma was to take her for a ride in the mountains. She definitely passed this love to her children and her passion for the outdoors will continue on through her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Kreg (Helen) Parry, Denny (Sarah) Parry, Chad (Lorie) Parry, all of Ephraim; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by her sister and life-long best friend, LuAnn (Don) Anderson, Fairview, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Dean Parry, parents, Harvey and Goldie Olson, and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ephraim First Ward Chapel. Viewings will be held at the First Ward Chapel in Ephraim on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday morning, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.. Burial will be in the Ephraim City Park Cemetery.
