Kalen Sidney 'Sid' Smith

Kalen Sidney 'Sid' Smith, age 65, of Huntington, Utah died of natural causes at his home on July 13, 2024. Born in Grand Junction, Colorado, Sid was the second of three children born to Archie and Barbara Smith of Utah. Because of his father's position as an officer in the United States Navy, Sid lived in California, Hawaii, and Japan, before settling in Utah when he was a teenager. He graduated from Provo High School in 1975 and later studied pottery at the College of Eastern Utah. Sid was a member of the UMWA, and worked for Deer Creek Emery Mining, Utah Power and Light, and Pacific Energy Corporation for over 20 years.

Sid married Colleen Curtis in 1984 and they welcomed daughter Robyn Lyn to their family the following year. Though he and Colleen were later divorced, Sid remained a devoted father to Robyn until her death in 2018.

Sid is preceded in death by his father, Archie Smith and daughter, Robyn Jackson. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Smith, his sister Brenda Tata (Giovanni), and his brother Micah Smith.

A memorial service will be held on September 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 N 100 W, Mount Pleasant, Utah. Interment will be at the Mount Pleasant City Cemetery.
