KENNETH WALTER NORTH was born on June 2, 1943, to Clarence Eugene and Estella June Knapton North in Salt Lake City. He grew up as one of 5 living brothers in Independence, Missouri. After graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1961, he attended BYU before being called on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Uruguay in 1962. There he flourished and discovered one of the loves of his life--teaching the gospel.
After his mission he came back to BYU where he met and married the love of his life, Cheryl Ann Finney in the Salt Lake Temple in 1967. After graduation, he worked for the Seminary Department until his retirement in 1987.
He loved teaching the Gospel, fishing, traveling with family, and studying the scriptures. He traveled around the United States, Japan, China, England (where he found some family history names), Italy, Spain, Egypt, Greece, Israel, and a number of countries in Central and South America.
He always looked forward to going on another mission. In 2014 he and Cheryl were called to the Quito, Ecuador Mission where they developed lifelong friends. In 2016 he and Cheryl moved to Spring City. The main highlights of his life were raising his family, teaching the Gospel and serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his 6 children: Wendy Clark (Tim), Kenny North (Cristie), Laurie North, Andy North (Jessica), Dianne Nichols (Brad), Aimee Kidd (Dwight), 24 grandchildren and their spouses, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 brothers: Wayne North, Keith North (Betty), Larry North (Connie), and Vaughan North (Myrna). These family connections, along with his testimony of the Gospel, are his most cherished possessions.
His call home came with a new assignment--to work with the Savior in caring for others, and to watch over his family from the other side of the veil. He was excited to continue to serve others in a new and different way.
