Kevin Chan Memmott
Chan Memmott, an avid hunter and fisherman, devoted family man, and military man, passed away 10/14/2024 in Nephi, UT. Born to Hal and Doris Memmott in Salina, UT on 6/30/1949. Married to his childhood friend LuJean Stone on April 11, 1970. Chan dedicated his life to his family, his country, and his work.
Chan served in the Army and then the Army National Guard, where he worked with the maintenance crews. He loved to joke around with fellow guardsmen while getting the work done and developed lasting friendships with people that he appreciated immensely. During his National Guard service, he also worked for Youngs Construction, the Scipio Maintenance Shed of the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and helped with the family’s ranching and farming.
Chan was often willing to pitch in to help in the community and ensured his children had the necessary leadership for their activities. He volunteered much of his time for the Scipio Rodeo, Scouts, coaching, and attended his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and games whenever possible. He enjoyed driving, westerns, sports, music, and the outdoors, and passed a boatload of knowledge and skills on to his family and friends.
Chan was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law Clinton Fred Christensen, and his granddaughter Justine Elise Memmott. Chan is survived by his loving wife, LuJean Memmott, his four children: Jeramie (Margo), Justin (Nicky), Casey (Shaun) Harrison, and Shandy (Jim) Rasmussen, his brother Clair (Julie) Memmott, his sister Gloria Romano, and his eight grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Scipio Ward at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. There will also be a viewing on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Scipio Ward from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. As an alternative to flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Legion.
