Marietta Brady Coates Stewart passed away August 23, 2024, at the age of 99 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah at the Goodlife Senior Living Center.

Marietta was born on April 14, 1925, in Fairview, Utah to Sidney A. Brady and Della Hurst Brady. She was the fifth child of nine children.

She graduated from North Sanpete High in 1943. She married her sweetheart, Vearl R. Coates, on Aug. 6, 1943. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on April 10, 1944. Vearl passed away Jan 16, 1996.

They were blessed with 4 children, Rodney, Sandy, Curtis, and Francine. She later married Melvin Jay Stewart on August 27, 1998. He passed away July 10, 2011. This marriage brought 4 grown children into the family.

Marietta loved working with her "boys" in scouting. She was awarded the Second Miler Scouting Award after 16 years of service in 1972. She served more years in Scouting after that. This was the first time this award and been given to women in the North Sanpete Stake.

She enjoyed crocheting, Swedish weaving, cutting snowflakes, playing with her grandchildren, and doing anything outdoors. At the family-owned service station, Rod's Service, she pumped gas, fixed tires, did the bookkeeping, and loved to visit with anyone who came in.

She kept a journal starting at a young age. She wrote to boys in the service, and on missions. She wrote to nieces and nephews and other family members through the years until she lost her sight.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She truly endured to the end.

Marietta was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, 2 sons, Rodney and Curtis, 3 brothers, 3 sisters,1 granddaughter, 2 great-granddaughters, and 1 great-great granddaughter.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Sandy (Steve) Schurz, Francine (Blaine) Neil, daughters-in-law, Sherry Coates, Shirley McCrone (Rodney, deceased), Eddy Jean Coates (Curtis, deceased), stepchildren, Judy (Richard) Whiting, Donald Stewart, Wayne (Toni) Stewart, and Gary Stewart (deceased), siblings, Clifton Brady, Dovell Beebe.
