Maurine Jensen Blackburn

Maurine was born November 5, 1927, in Moroni, Utah, the 8th child of Vernile and Bertha Sorensen Jensen.
She had two older brothers (Boyce and Floyd) and five adoring sisters (Vay, Ada, Neva, Lillis and Lula). A younger brother (Dean) was born later. With such a large family, all the children had to help Mama with the housework.
Maurine also worked in her Papa’s grocery store. She became a very hard worker and later worked at the Moroni turkey plant and the Dairy Queen.
She married Merrill Dee Blackburn in 1943, the marriage was later sealed in the Manti Temple. Maurine and Dee were the parents of four children. Maurine always supported Dee in his farming and sheepherding and his love of horses, camping, hunting and especially fishing. They were active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where Maurine was a Jr. Sunday School teacher and a Cub Scout leader. They became “snowbirds” and enjoyed making new friends and participating in many fun activities.
Maurine is survived by her children – DeeAnna Sparks (Scott) of American Fork, Dixie Boswell (Lynn) of Nephi, Veldon Blackburn (Starla) of Lehi. Casey Blackburn (Kristine) of Vernal; 22 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and her brother Dean Jensen (Carma) of Moroni and sister-in-law Ardys Tidwell of Nephi. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her two brothers and five sisters, a grandchild Joseph Dee Blackburn, great grandchildren Dylan Michael Boswell and Austin Dee Blackburn.
After her husband passed away in 2014, she continued to live in Moroni taking care of her garden and flowers, visiting with good friends and enjoying her family. When it became difficult for her to live alone, she moved to Vernal, Utah, to live with her son, Casey. She passed away there on December 20, 2019
The funeral will be held Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Moroni Stake Center, 82 North Center, Moroni, at 1:00 P.M. with a viewing beginning at 11:30 A.M.
