Melvin LaVaur “Mel” Wilcox, 83 of Spring City, Utah, passed away July 26, 2021 at his home. Born February 18, 1938 to LaVaur Hanks & Laura Mae Baird Wilcox in Burley, Idaho. Married Gretta Tompkins they had six children, Kathleen Laura, Walter James, Melene Sue, Joseph Melvin, William David and Gretta Elizabeth, they later divorced. Married Jeannie Ebersole Alves December 1, 1979 in Elk Grove, CA.
Mel loved hunting, fishing and would sing to anyone, anywhere. He was awarded Muni Man in of the Month three times in San Francisco for being friendly and helpful while driving Bus.

After retiring they moved to Spring City, Utah. He continued driving bus for the Scofield Mine, Head Start, North Sanpete, and Snow College.
Mel and Jeannie served a Humanitarian Mission Blythe, CA. Where they remodeled homes and served the Blythe Ward and community. They also serviced in the Manti Temple.

Mel is survived by his wife Jeannie; children, Kathleen Laura Robins; Melene Sue “Susie” (Jeff) Jeppson; William David (Casey) Wilcox; step-children, Tony Alves; Jeanna Marie (Bob) Baker; Richard Joseph (Alysanne) Alves; Linda Denise (Randolph) Johnson; siblings, Virginia (Don) Cazier; Steve (Janet) Wilcox; Keith (Diann) Wilcox; Ronald (Katherine) Wilcox; Kathleen (Harvey) Mills; Gerald Wilcox; 37 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; children Walter James, Joseph Melvin and Gretta Elizabeth; stepson Mark Leroy Alves.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Creek Ward Chapel (7655 East 15000 North, Spring City, UT). A viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment in the Spring City Cemetery with Military Honors. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com
