Nowell Leatherbury Morris passed away peacefully in his sleep August 7, 2024. He will rejoin his wife Bonnie and his beloved daughter Melinda. Nowell Married Eleanor Lynne Jensen September 14, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple, later divorced, married Bonnie Jane Lazenby June 10, 1978 in Salt Lake City Utah later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Born May 1, 1938 in Salt Lake City, he spent his youth in Shady Side, Maryland. Nowell served his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission. He graduated from University of Utah with a degree in Physics, and found work in a new field called "Computers." "Nal" as he was known to his colleagues, worked for Sperry-Unisys who gave him the opportunity to move the whole family to Paris, France for three years starting in 1980 while working on international air-traffic control programs. After retirement, he went on to teach Astronomy for several years at Utah Valley State College, or UVU as it became. He is also well known and revered for his life long study and contribution to the field of archeo-astronomy in Rochester Creek, Emery County, and as the memorial plaques attest in Iron County at Parowan Gap. His love for the desert was shown in his photography, and his skills in tinkering and crafting were shown in unique lamps he made and his love of Christmas decorations. He was very often found with an open book and notepad in his lap, lost in thoughts of eternity, the cosmos, and his family’s role in it. He was happiest when with his ever growing family.
