He married Judith Doris Thomas Ahlers on Oct 21, 1971, Member of LDS Church Sealed for time and all eternity Oct 22, 1999. In his life he worked for Kennecott, Keith Scow, and E & D Maintenance, successful in everything he pursued. Richard was an outstanding self-taught knife maker. He was full of life, fun, and enjoyed the outdoors. He truly enjoyed camping and fishing with his children, and spending time with his family and friends. Richard was a loving husband, father, friend and Papa who was known for having a huge heart, being very generous and always having the ability to make everyone around him laugh. Richard’s second love was motorcycles; he had a love for all bikes, and served fellow veterans on many missions with the Patriot Guard riders of Utah. In recent years he was a founding member of the Full Throttle Full Mag Utah chapter and spent a good portion of his final days enjoying the company of his FTFM family. The family would like to give a special thanks to his wonderful hospice care givers with Gunnison Valley home health and Hospice and his friends, and family who supported him through his ups and downs for many years. “Thanks for Talking to me”
