11/25/1927 ~ 1/13/2023
In the early hours of January 13, Rodney Ross Peterson (95), returned to the loving embrace of our Father-in-Heaven. Days and hours before his departure, his family surrounded him with love and tender farewells. Ross Peterson was born November 25, 1927 in Fillmore Utah to Mary Lynn Cooper and Marvin Wilburn Peterson. He was the last of 6 children (Lloyd, Mary, Merle, Hope, Carol, Ross).
While Ross had many talents and jobs over his lifetime including working for then Bennett’s Paint & Glass, most will remember him for his work as a builder and residential designer, the latter of which was work he enjoyed and did until the age of 86.
Ross was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. He served in numerous callings throughout his life, giving of his time and talents in many ways. He was an accomplished carpenter and donated those skills by helping build the local Stake building in then Hunter, Utah. He spent hours digging weeds at the beet farms, and in retirement gave 7 years of devoted services working in the Jordan River temple. Ross was also a patriot and served in the Air Force in 1953 during the Korean war.
Though he will certainly be missed, we are grateful for his release and find solace in knowing that he has already been joyfully welcomed home by his cherished Marlene, son Zachary, parents, and many other precious family and friends. We are grateful for his remarkable life, positive influence, and will simply miss him. With much love, bye dad, but just for now.
Ross is preceded in death by his parents Lynn and Marvin, wife Marlene, son Zachary Ross, grandson Jacob Ross Peterson, brother Lloyd, and sisters Hope, Mary, and Merle. He is survived by sister Carol and brother-in-law Jake Rogers, 4 children, Wyatt Peterson (Mary), Valerie Peterson Holman, Jody Cox (Gary), and Dirk Peterson, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the LDS chapel located at 1433 Old Mission Rd, Sandy, Utah on Friday, January 20, 2023. The viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with funeral services starting at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at the Fillmore City cemetery.
The recording will be accessible for 60 days from the day of service.
