Ruth Alene Stewart Brinkerhoff passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her husband and family on February 18, 2023, at the age of 83. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, dedication to her family, and service to others.

Ruth was born on May 21, 1939, in Fairview, Utah to Burke and Alene Stewart. She is the oldest of three children. She graduated from Davis High School in Layton, Utah. She married her high school sweetheart, Dan Brinkerhoff on July 17,1957. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on July 17, 1960. She and Dan had 15 children. Her love for children was only surpassed by her love for her eternal companion, Dan.

As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ruth served in many callings for the church. Working hand in hand, Dan and Ruth served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple. They served as ward and stake missionaries in the Mount Pleasant Utah Stake, as well as full time missions to Oregon, Ireland, Iowa, and Alaska to help with record preservation. Ruth dedicated much of her life to genealogy and family history.

Ruth was a pillar of support for her husband, working alongside him on their family farm and in their various business ventures. She was a hard worker who was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was in the fields or in the businesses. Ruth’s undying commitment to their shared endeavors was integral to their success.

Ruth was a loving wife and mother to her 15 children. She instilled in them the values of hard work, faith, and family which they continue to carry with them. Ruth’s love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was evident in the way she would light up around them even in her final days.

Ruth is survived by her loving and compassionate husband, Dan Brinkerhoff; her children Rodney (Janis) Brinkerhoff, Diane (Keith) Jensen, Mark (Kristine) Brinkerhoff, Becky (Roger) Rees, Kevin (Sunny) Brinkerhoff, Karen (Chad) Buttars, Sarah (Matt) Mitchell, David (Sarah Brennan) Brinkerhoff, Susan (Raphael) Millet, Amy (Tim) Sisson, Lisa (Eric) Hellwig, Emily (Ben) Hooser, John (Cami) Brinkerhoff, Laura Huggins (Andrew Flynn); 60 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; her brother Gayle (Sue) Stewart and her sister Janice (Gerald) Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burke and Alene Stewart; her son, Matthew Brinkerhoff; her son-in-law, Robert Peterson; her daughter-in-law, Tracy Shutt Brinkerhoff and her grandchildren Misty and Alex Brinkerhoff.

A viewing will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant North Stake Center located at 461 North 300 West in Mount Pleasant, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant North Stake Center, with a viewing for friends and family from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery.
