Sandra Lee Scow Coates passed away peacefully January 4th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 23rd, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Dewy and Della Scow. Sandra was the last of nine children with many of them already married with families of their own. Sandra attended North Sanpete High where she met the love of her life Gerald Coates. Her being a cheerleader and Gerald a football player. They were married May 23rd, 1959 on her 18th birthday and thereafter had seven children. Family was her greatest calling in life. She raised her children, helped raise her grandchildren and even a few friends along the way.
She would never turn down someone in need of a place to stay. Road trips, camping, hikes up Maple Canyon and a day at Palisade Lake with extended family were some of her favorite things to do.
Sandra was preceded in death by her daughters, Connie, Joan and Caren, a granddaughter Laura, and two great grandchildren Jackie and Drayke, as well as all of her siblings. She is survived by her husband of 66 years Gerald, their four children; Jeri Gonzales, Kim (Brian) Coates, DelAnn (Darren) England and Billie (Juan) Vazquez, 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
A dedication of the grave will be held on January 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Moroni Cemetery for immediate family. And for those who would love to attend, a Celebration of Life in Sandra’s honor will be held at the Moroni Opera House from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
