Sonja Fay Orton

Sonja Fay Sidwell Orton passed away Sunday September 8, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. 

Sonja was born December 9, 1940 in Fairview Utah to Kenneth Fay and Arlene Sidwell. She grew up helping her father on the farm at a very young age. She would help with anything from driving the tractor to milking cows. She was her fathers boy.

Sonja met Larry Orton at the age of 13 and dated for a few years before getting married June 28, 1958 in Fairview, Utah. Later sealed in the Manti Temple June 29, 2004. Together they had two children Tammie and Dennis Orton. Shortly after marriage her and Larry spent four years in Long Beach California where Larry was stationed in the United States Navy. After living in Long Beach they moved to Salt Lake City where they resided for 14 years before going back home to Fairview. While living in Fairview Sonja drove bus for the North Sanpete School District for about 20 years. Upon retirement from driving bus Larry and Sonja spent a lot of time together traveling and spending time with family. Sonja and Larry spent four years snowbirding to Yuma, Arizona, three years as camphosts at Fairview Lakes, not to mention all the other adventures they took with their grandchildren. Larry and Sonja have been inseparable for 70 years.

Sonja was a faithful member of the church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. 

Sonja is survived by her loving husband Larry Orton. Her children Tammie Jensen (Ken Comstock), and Dennis (Katherine) Orton; siblings Leon Sibwell, and Elaine Redmond; four grandchildren Josh Comstock (Dani Reed), Kayla (Eric) Westlund, Preston Nebeker and Terry (Cindy) Gleason and 8 great grandchildren. Sonja is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Fay Sidwell and Arlene Tucker; son in-law Kevin Jensen; sister-in-law Sandra Sidwell; brother-in-law John Bruce Redmond; along with many other aunts, uncles, and family members.

Funeral services will be held Saturday September 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fairview 2nd and 3rd Ward Chapel “Rock Church” with a viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 prior to services. Interment in the Fairview City Cemetery.
