Steven Jack Clark

Steven Jack Clark passed away on December 25, 2024. Steve was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Born on April 17, 1946, Steve was the only son of Jack and Norine Clark. Steve grew up learning and playing with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his dad hunting and fishing, working on the farm with his grandfather, and riding his bike all over Utah county. In school Steve loved participating in debate and any kind of music. Steve started performing at a young age and was the conductor for the high school choir as a senior in high school.

Steve was called to serve a mission in the Central States Mission in 1965 and learned how cold the United States could be. Steve would reminisce about serving in subzero temperatures, encounters with local wildlife, and serving the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Minnesota States area.

 After seeing his mission, Steve married Carol Chard. They had four children Beccie Chard, Carrie (Tony) Serrano, Darren (Kim) Clark, and Ryan (Erin) Clark. Steve and Carol later divorced.

Steve’s military career started in an unusual way. As a boy, Steve was taught by a gentleman in their neighborhood the ins and outs of electrical wiring. From this exceptional learning opportunity, Steve went on to become a missile silo maintenance technician for the US Air Force from 1967-1969 and was honorably discharged.

After discharging from the military, Steve used the skills from the military to run several successful electrical businesses throughout the United States. He worked with friends and business associates to carry out various entrepreneurial endeavors.

Steve married Lauri Rosier on August 2, 2003, and became the step-father to Laci (Andrew) Warby and Morgan (Shar) Hess. Steve embarked on a new adventure being a part of this exceptional family. Steve brought his love of travel and music to the family. Steve became the love of Lauri’s life, and they have been married for over 20 years. He taught the family how to play poker, travel, and connect in ways they had not experienced before. The adventure, love, silliness, and support he brought to the family were much needed and will never be forgotten.

Steve was an avid advocate for Sanpete County and worked relentlessly to ensure the best outcomes for the communities of the county. One of the major contributions to the county was Steve’s work with bringing the Con Toy Arena to Mt. Pleasant. His opportunity to participate in this project was given to him through his work at CentraCom.

Steve was very politically active and was instrumental in ensuring Sanpete County has a representative in the Utah State House. His favorite event in his political career was the Lincoln Day Dinner. Steve worked tirelessly as the Republican Chair for Sanpete County.

Steve was the Choir Director for the Sanpete Choral Society for 24 years helping them travel through Sanpete County and to Temple Square. His passion for music and performance were an outstanding asset to the Choir. Steve would work to prepare for the choir performances throughout the year filling the house with boxes of music, cummerbunds, sparkly blouses, and folders.

Steve was a published author of contemporary thriller novels. He found the writing process both challenging and cathartic. He traveled throughout the nation participating in book signings and writers’ conferences.

Grandchildren came to Steve and he enjoyed every single second of being a grandpa. He took the step grandkids fishing, taught them how to drive a tractor, participate in the community, and love one another. His adventurous nature was one of the endearing traits the step grandchildren loved about him. Steve was a part of the ordination of all four step grandsons and had an eye single to his step granddaughters. Steve’s stalwart faith in the Church was exemplified through the support and love he showed his step-grandchildren.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Norine Clark. Steve is survived by his wife Lauri, stepchildren Ericka Clary-Terzani. Laci (Andrew) Warby and Morgan (Shar) Hess; his children Beccie Chard, Carrie (Tony) Serrano, Darren (Kim) Clark, and Ryan (Erin) Clark; and his sisters Kathleen (Max) Henrie, Annette (Lane) Adams, and Anna Jones; and his step grandchildren Mack Hess, Gabriel Hess, Landon Warby, Chloe Hess, Desmond Warby, and Gwendoline Warby.

 We love and thank the family and friends of Steve for their love and support and wish you all adventures and songs throughout your life.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Wales LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Thursday January 2, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. and Friday 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. prior to services both at the church. Interment in the Moroni City Cemetery.
