10/9/1939 ~ 1/16/2023
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend has returned to the loving embrace of her Savior and her family. She died peacefully in her home with her family by her side on January 16, 2023, from pancreatic cancer.
Tamra Hyde was born on October 9, 1939, in Fairview, Idaho, to Theoda Bodily and George W. Hyde. As a young girl, she worked on the family farm while participating in the music and athletic programs of Preston (ID) High School (1958 diploma); later she graduated from LDS Business College (1959 Associates Degree) before working at Hill Air Force Base. During this time she met Barry Alden Baker; they were married for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on August 9, 1963.
Together, they built a life of love and service. Tamra supported Barry as he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Utah State University (Logan, UT) and later a Master of Education from Brigham Young University (Provo, UT). Again, she supported Barry as a Director of Seminary and Institutes in Minnesota for 13 years. In 1983, the family moved to Ephraim where she worked with Dr. Leland Thompson at his dental office until 2001. She enjoyed interacting with patients and members of the community.
She was a faithful, life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served faithfully in various church assignments. Tamra was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She and her husband, Barry, served three full-time missions: Kazakhstan, Almaty (2002-2003), Russia, Vladivostok (2006-2007), and Florida, Jacksonville (2012-2013). Tamra truly loved the people she met and served in these missions. She was a committed ministering sister in the Relief Society.
Tamra is survived by her husband, Barry and her children: Heidi (Shane) Argyle, West Jordan, UT; Jason (Annette) Baker, Katy, TX; Jeremy (Amber) Baker, Cypress, TX; and Heather (Matthew) Bailey, Salisbury, MD. She is grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Edwin (Ina) Hyde. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Shannon Hyde Hobbs.
Tamra suffered from Alzheimer’s disease over the past few years. To honor Tamra, remember. Remember a lonely neighbor, call a family member, or do an act of service for a friend.
