Thomas Robert Carney

Thomas Robert Carney (Tom), 56, passed away unexpectedly from a cardiac event on December 16, 2024.

Born on March 27, 1968 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Tom was the beloved son of Richard and Bonnie Carney (both deceased). He grew up in Nebraska and throughout his life was a huge Nebraska Corn Huskers fan.

Tom graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1986. Through his life, he maintained many of those friendships and always held them dear to his heart. Tom was an avid boy scout and earned his Eagle Scout, something he was very proud to have.

Tom was an amazing and loving husband and father, a truly devoted son and brother, and the most loyal friend you could ever have.

Tom and his beloved wife Tanya were happily married on this earth for 15 years and are sealed for all eternity. He is the father of six children, that were his world, and grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren.

He had an amazing faith and testimony of our Heavenly Father and Savior and cherished his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in every calling.

Tom had a heart bigger than most and saw every person he encountered as a friend. He was always willing to go out of his way to make others feel good about themselves and showed genuine hope for their happiness.

Tom dreamed big. Though he spent most of his career working in trucking to support his family, he was always planning for the future in ways to bless his family and as many others as possible.

Tom is survived by his wife, Tanya Carney, children Kaitlin Jenkins (Kent), Ryan Carney, Caleb Carney, Aiden Carney, Oliver Carney, Adeline Carney. His brothers Rick Carney, Doug Carney,

David Carney. He is preceded in death by his parents, L. Richard Carney and Bonnie Carney, and sister Tammy Gunn.

 Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant North Stake Center (461 N 300 W, Mt. Pleasant, UT). Viewings will be held Friday December 27, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services both held at the church. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
