Our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Verl Quinn Jensen, age 93, passed away on December 6, 2024, in Lindon, Utah.
Verl was born on July 25, 1931, to Orrin and Bergetta Jensen. He was the youngest of the four Jensen brothers. He loved growing up in Spring City and fondly enjoyed working on the farm, hanging out with his cousins, and making mischief with his brothers. His life lessons from working on the farm stayed with him during his mortal journey.
Verl was very patriotic. He loved and served his country in the Army branch of the military, including serving during the Korean War.
After returning home from war, he attended Utah State to earn a degree in Secondary Education. Upon finding out there were no jobs at North Sanpete High School, he returned to Utah State to earn an Elementary Education degree, which allowed him to work in one of Sanpete’s elementary schools. His secret ambition was to work on his family’s farm in Spring City while being a teacher.
It was In his pursuit of education that Verl started dating a Sanpete girl, Donna Mae Seely. Little did Donna know they would date for seven years until they were married on May 29, 1965. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on June 21, 1969.
They were blessed with a son, Michael, in 1970 and a daughter, Melissa, in 1973. Receiving Melissa and Michael were the greatest blessing in Verl and Donna’s life.
Verl worked in various teaching locations and positions in the North Sanpete School District. His patience and love for children made him a favorite teacher among many students.
Verl served in various roles and capacities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the elder’s quorum, was a member of the bishopric, and was a Sunday school teacher. He and Donna served as scoutmasters for the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts for many years. Verl and Donna also served as Ward and Stake missionaries for six years. He loved working beside his beloved Donna as a missionary. He loved the Lord and served Him his whole life.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Ruth McArthur (Ryan), his grandchildren Zakary McArthur (Mikayla), Kaylee Brady (Matthew), Jacob Jensen (Courtney), Madison Ashton (Connor), Abraham Jensen, Jace McArthur, Aliyah Jensen, Logan McArthur, Samuel Jensen, and one great-grandson, Amoni Fifita. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Donna Mae, his son, Michael Verl Jensen, and granddaughter, Mariah Anne Jensen.
