Virginia Nunley

August 27, 1929 — June 18, 2024

Born on August 27th, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alberta Gerber Hart and Roy Alma Hart, Virginia Ella Hart Nunley lived a life full of beautiful memories. She passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family.

She met the love of her life, William "Billy" T. Nunley, on New Year's Day in 1939. As she fondly would recall, "I was eleven when I first met him. We went ice skating. He was so cute, and I just fell in love with him immediately." Their love story blossomed into a beautiful marriage; they were wed on July 19th, 1946, in Farmington, Utah.

Virginia and Billy were blessed with four children: Terry Nunley, Walter Nunley, John Nunley, and Pamela Nunley Larsen (Lynn Larsen). Virginia often shared that her greatest joy in life was being a mother. Her family grew to include five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved Billy, her sons John and Terry, her siblings, her grandson Ben, and great-grandson Thorson.

In her younger days, Virginia was a talented dancer, teaching tap and ballet. She often reminisced about her youth, saying, "My parents got along wonderfully. I had a really happy childhood." A lover of music, she shared her passion with her grandchildren, saying, "I was a big fan of most music. I loved sunny songs with ukulele and guitar and fast lyrics."

Virginia had a zest for life that included playing card games (she belonged to a poker club for over 50 years!) and showcasing her many talents in cooking, sewing, piano, art, and singing. She was also an avid bowler, golfer, and baseball lover.

After raising their children, Virginia and Billy retired in Apache Junction, AZ, where they enjoyed their golden years together. In her final years, Virginia resided at the Good Life Senior Living Center in Mount Pleasant, Utah. A special thank you to all the staff at Good Life for taking such good care of Virg.

Virginia Ella Hart Nunley's legacy is one of love, joy, and a life well-lived. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of a service or flowers, the family kindly requests donations to your favorite charity in honor of Virginia's memory.
